OLD CLOTHES, NEW ME
SUSTAINABLE FASHION // CLOTHES SWAP
The Event
What we wear matters - fashion is the second largest contributor to green house gas emissions after meat consumption. We wanted to show that combatting fast fashion is something we can all fit into our lives.
After we were inspired by our speakers, who were leading experts and entrepreneurs at the vanguard of sustainable fashion, we were able to embrace what sustainable fashion is all about with a clothes swap.
Our Speakers
We were joined by:
-
Madeline Petrow from MAMOQ, a marketplace that offers sustainable fashion

-
Justine Porterie, a freelance sustainable fashion consultant

-
Christian Clark Worsley from Swapsy, an app that helps people swap clothes for free

-
Emily de Groot from The Clothes Club, a fundraising initiative raising money for good causes through clothes swapping events
Impact
Our attendees brought a total of 129 items of clothing for the clothes swap and had the chance to get a new look without any cost to them or the planet!

All extra items of clothing that were left behind after the swap were donated to a local Crisis Charity Shop.
